  3. 1.to show how crazy and dumb some girls can be.
2.abigal and john and and rev. harris are unchanging. but rev. hale changed through the play along with mary
3.john proctor because he plays the roll of a big handsome guy who farms and what not and i have cheated in the same way he did but the girl i cheated on was a harlet
4.because many people want to believe that witches are real.
5.the judge. do you know how many innocent people you killed? i want the judge to have to live with what he has done and hopefully retire.
6.it was an ok play and whatnot.the bad parts were with all the girls mimicking each other.three stars only because the actors were pretty good actors

  5. 1. I think he was trying to make a pure puritan town that was perfect, till the witches came and they tried to kill anything that might be a witch. Just to protect their own faith in god and that the devil is possesing people. WTF!!! Those people didnt deserve to die. None of them. Except Abigail and those other girls that were with her that started all this bull.
    2. Proctor is unchangable, and hale is changable. Proctor stays the same the entire time and dies for what he believes. Hale was a believer that they were witches. Now he believes that those people in the jail are innocent and that everyone has gone insane. I agree.
3.I would say Hale. Cause I go with what I believe, but I dont go so far that it kills people for no reason.
    4. I guess the fact that people were getting killed for no reason. Because no one believes in witches and just because your a puritan dosnt mean you have to do everything in the bible and if the bible says its wrong then kill it without hesitation. Its stupid. Nobody in Salem has common sence. Except Proctor and Hale.
    5. To the head of the court, Why are you so much into your faith that you kill people because of what girls say, and why do you keep killing after Abigail has left for good? Are you stupid? I dont get it. Those girls were faking. Any idiot could figure it out. Why couldnt you?
    6. I think it was a good play. About the beggining of the witch hunts and why they did it all the way till the end. Some good parts were how proctor called Abigail a hoe and how those girls kept freaking out for no reason. I find that funny. The only bad part was that people had to die for those stupid girls. Nobody should kill for such a stupid cause. I think it was a good 4 out of 5 stars. Its a great movie, it just needed to be long enough to actually see the ending of the witch trials. It has a messed up ending, with purpose. Thats why I give it a 4.

  7. 1.that the trials were an example of run away histaria.
2.revrand parris is static since he is a jerk at the star and a jerk at the end
and i think jhon is dynamic since he comes around and forgives him self in act four
3.i dont identify with any of these characters since they are all involved with drama and im not
4.im not sure why its so good I dod not like this play in the least. I thought it was very dumb that everyone would jusdt follow what a few young girls would say over some upstanding people in the community.
5.revg parris, why is it that you are so adament about jhon confessing to witchcraft? is it because you know that this whole thing is fake and you need to feel justifyied?
    6. I HATED THIS PLAY!!!!! none of it was good and it gets one star. this is due to the fact that its just really dumb in my mind. (see number four)

  8. 1. i think the message Miller was trying to give about the witch trials, is that when you try to cover your mistakes, desperate times calls for desperate measures... on this case, these girls put innocent lives at stake.
2.The character Abigail is static. she's a lost cause. she won't face the fact that she is hurting others and that truth can be embaressing but a solution. The character Mary is capable of growth, because she has a conscious that makes her blurt out the truth. Eventually she'll stick to the truth.
    3. The character i identify with most is actually Mary. Sometimes i'll go along with the lie, but eventually it'll make me lose sleep over night.
    4. This play became universally popular because anyone can identify with the characters. Apart from that, this play is based on a true story, and the fact that someone can be so cruel about bringing so many people in a mess like this one, it can only grab a person's attention.
    5. Elizabeth: i'd like to know how you felt as soon as John let you know that he confessed? Did you feel guilty after he was hanged? Do you feel only hate for abigail or also pity? Are you going to pray more for her rather than wish her nothing but hell.?
    6. i give this play 4 stars because I really liked it. I think i prefered the movie, because it was in a way more modern from my point of view, so i can understand it. Also, i recognized a few characters. I like the story of the play, except the part that John had to die. The rest of the people who were hanged to death were probably killed in real life, so i can't say much about them.

  9. 1. I think miller was trying to show how out of control the trials were. The town knew that John Proctor was a good man, yes they didnt do a thing about it.
2.Abigail is static, all she did was lie through the entire play. Hale was a dynamic, he at first believe there were witchs in salem but at the end he knows that there are not any.
3.I think i identify most with Rev. Hale. He saw that the girls were lieing and was trying to save an inoccent life from being tane.
4.I think it is universally popular because it represents something that really happened when people take their beliefs too far.
5.Id ask Abigail,"Why did you do it and why did you let them die?" I want to know if she was just really selfish or if she liked to see people die.
6.It was all right. Good part was that people actually figured out what was going on. Bad Part was that the judge didnt repeal the sentence and let the people die. I give it a 3 1/2

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1. It shows how a simple lie can cause lives.

    2. I would say that John, Elizabeth, and Rev. Hale were the ones that were static because they never chaged there mind about what they belive in. The one that was dynamic would be Rev. Parris because he wanted John to die and would say that he was telling lies and at the end he felt guilty for what he did and said.

    3. None. They dont resemble me.

    4. The fact that many people died for such a lie that the girls made.

    5. I would ask Abigail why she was so desperate to have John. I would want to know this because she caused a lot of people to die for no reason.

    6. At times the movie was good and at others time it was very boring. The good part was all the action part where the girls would act stupid and scream for no reason. It was boring when they were on trial. I would rate it a 3.5 because it was kinda lame.

  11. 1.i think he was trying to say that court and religion shouldnt be mixed nothing good comes out of it because the way the bible may justify things is different from law.
2.Abigail is static she she didnt change she continued to lie and accuse people.John Proctor was capable of growth he confessed at the end but his pride took over and he took it back.
3.I agree with Hale the most he eventually saw that the girls were lieing and everyone was innocent.
4.I think it's popular because it is based on a true story and quite a few people died making it more interestiing.
5.I would ask John Proctor to why he would confesse and take it back people would know he took it back so it makes no difference on his name.
6.I liked it just the concept of the play (storyline)it was mainly just plan not much was going but in real life its dumb because witches arnt real... 4

  12. 5 Abigail why did you want john proctor so bad was he that good to you i want to know this question because she was crazy over him in the play

  13. 1). I think that Miller was trying to get the message across that what happened with the witch trials was wrong. He tried to let us know what happened to all those poor innocent people just because the girls decided to blame everyone else.
2). Abigail is static and John is dynamic. Abigail does the same thing throughout the story. She blames everyone else for being a witch just to save her own tail. John took the blame for being a witch to help save himself but in the end he couldn't shame his name so he told the truth and denied doing witchcraft.
3). I identify most with John. In the beginning when he got accused he was going to lie and say he was with the Devil to save himself but closer to the end he couldn't bring himself to do it. He would rather die from telling the truth than live from telling a lie.
4). I think this play is so popular because there are so many twists and turns in the plot that it always keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next. It also tells a true story so it is interesting to see how things happened back then.
    5). Abigail-
Why did you feel the need to blame everyone else instead of taking the punishment for your own mistakes?
I would like to know this because what she did was wrong. She blamed innocent people who didn't even have anything to do with this just so she could get her name cleared.
6). I dislike this very much. I thought that the story was very sad and in some parts it made me so angry that I just wanted to stop reading. What those girls did to all those innocent people was wrong. They should have owned up to thier mistakes and suffered the consequences instead of making other people suffer for them. I did not like the ending at all. John should not have been hung because of Abigail. She is a horible person and she should have been punished.

  14. 1. the message Miller was trying to give about the witch trails by his portrayal of salem is he lead alot of people on to beleive there all stupid to confess to something there not.
2.John and his wife is unchanging because they sticked to is all the whole way through and sood for what they beleived in. Abgial and Merry are very dynamic because the carryed this whole thing out into a big deal. they screaded and yelled to get a point across.
3.i really dont identify any of the charactors. Reasong being is because im nothing like any of them.
4.I think what made this play so popular was because of a relegion and the parts just made it seem like it really happen and makes people see it in different ways and what they did back then.
5.Abgial! How did you really feel about john? I want to know because it must be a good reason for this to turn out the way it did.
6.I liked this play it was okay it made me see different side. The only hard thing is its kinda hard to understand some parts. i give it about 4 stars.

  15. 6 this play was alright to me i liked it the girls lieing in the play to me was the bad part good part is when the church no they messed up and killed incconent people i give this play a three is was okay not that bad it had it good parts

  16. 1. I think what Miller was trying to let the reader know how wrong the Salem witch trials really were. Innocent people got blamed for participating in witchcraft when they really had no part of it. The court system was wasn't fair and took others peoples word with no evidence.
2.Characters in this play that were static are definatley Abigail because she never felt bad for accusing innocent people and continued doing it. Also Rev.Parris because he contined to believe Abigail and never questioned it.
Characters that were dynamic were John because twords the end he realized what he did to Elizabeth was wrong and apologized also, when he was going to "confess" so he'd live he knew that he should die for what was right and what he believed just like the others did.
    3. I don't think i realte to anyone in the play really, but if i were to chose i think i'd realte to Elizabeth because if i loved someone as much as she loved John i would have told him the same thing she did.
    4. I think that this play is popular because it sends out a good message and because it really happened.
    5. Abigail- i understand you were jealous of Elizabeth and wanted John so thats why you accused Elizabeth, but why did you start accusing everyone and there mom of doing witchcraft? and why did you like causing all that problem and people to die?

I want to know this because i don't think it's fair that all those people were killed and were actually innocent because of her acuasations.
6.I really enjoyed this play. It kept me entertained the whole time and left me wanting to know more everytime, and that's why i liked it. I usually don't like the books we read at in english but that was actually a really good one. I thought the whole play was good, and there wasnt just a good or a bad part. i would give this play 4 1/2 stars.

  17. 1) Tht the people in Salem have changed and they have realized their mistakes. To have turned agaisnt the people they care about and loved was a horrible act and you can tell the quilt they have for it.
    2) John Proctor was very unchanging throughout the entire play. He had to undergo many difficult decisions but he always stuck by what he believed was he.
Rev Hale changed the most during this play. At the beginging he believed he was doing the right thing by investigating the witch trials. but at the end, he begged john to confess to the lie just so he could live because of how guilty he felt for accusing people.
    3) Im probly most like Giles. He is stuborn and would rather giv up his own life than to put one of his friends in risk of being arrested.
    4) Because its such a huge tragedy and no one understands why the girls accused people. i think the fact that those 19 hangings went unsolved is this polay is so popular.
    5) Abigail.. How could you live with yourself knowing that your the main cause that all these people died? Because i wouldnt be able to live with myself, so i just wanna know how she could.
    6) I hated this play because you could tell nothing would turn out good and it was just a bunch of high and mighty girls stupidity that killed 19 people. ** 2 stars. good parts, where john was about to be hanged and they wer saying the lords pray. bad parts, the rest of the play. it was very dramatized and it was easy to predict. i really dislliked when the girls would go on a random hysterics that were obvious they were fake but the towns people always believed it.

  18. 1. The message that Miller was trying to give about the witch trials is that back then people were very closed-minded and also not very intelligent in terms of justice. They killed a lot of people because of what a few children were saying, even though there's no physical evidence you could possibly obtain that might help you in the investigation.

    2. Abigail would be a static character, because all it would have taken is a simple confession saying that she was lying about the whole thing all along. She should have confessed too, since she ran away. Reverend Hale would be a dynamic character in my opinion because at first, he was highly involved in finding out who was and was not a witch by asking them various questions or having them state the ten commandments; but towards the end he realised that the girls were all just pretending that they were being attacked and that's when he went against it completely.

    3. I think that I'm most like Reverend Hale because I'll stand for what I believe in, but if somehow I'm proved wrong, I'll be rational about the situation and look at the facts.

    4. I think there's two reasons this play is so popular, one being the fact that nobody knows what drove the girls to accuse all of these people of being witches. The second reason would most likely be because of the time it takes place and how religiously crazed people were at that time to prosecute people for things they had no proof on.

    5. I would ask Abigail why she didn't come out and say it was all a lie, because at first her intentions were to get Elizabeth out of the way so that she could be with John. Since John was about to be prosecuted, what I don't understand is why she didn't try to save him and stick to her plan.

    6. This play was not exactly my type. Firstly because of all of the arrogant people who rule the court who know what's going on, but don't want to believe it so they ignore everything anybody says that goes against the girls' testimony. Also I don't like the fact that Abigail got away, because honestly.. I wanted to watch her die. >:)
I give this play a 3.5 out of 5 because the story was in no way confusing, had no twist, and for the most part bored the crap out of me.

  19. 1)I think Miller was trying to show how easily a society can be controlled and brainwashed into believing what other people tell them to believe. In Act 4 you got to see how the people enojyed watching innocent people hanged even though they knew they were innocent. No matter what proof John or Elizabeth had the court still thought they were guilty so the people thought they were guilty.
    2) Rebecca Nurse and John Proctor were two characters that were unchanging. They were put up to some of the hardest decsions a person would ever have to make and they still stayed faithful to what they believed in. At many times John had the opportunity to lie and save his life but he stood strong to what he believed was right. Rev Hale was the most dynamic character. In the begining, Rev Hale was one of the accusers and dramatically changed into defending the people who were being accused. In Act 4 Rev Hale repeatedly trys to convince the judge that John and his wife were innocent when he was the one who had been accusing them in the begining.
3)I identify the most with John. John had done wrong many times in his life and he knew it but no matter the circumstances he was fatihful to what he believed in. I believe the same thing. I know I do wrong everyday but I remind myself to stay strong in what I believe in.
    4) I think this play is so universally popular because it shows how unfair and how different life is today. I don't think many people are curious to why theses girls did what they did and it causes many people anger towards them.
    5) John, how did you not give in and confess that you had dealt with the devil? You were faced with the hardest situations and it seemed like everything was going against you. You had several opportunities to save yourself from being hanged but you thought it was the devil testing you and wanting you to give in. I know it would be very tempting for me to give in and confess but I know when you are actually in that situation where your life is on the line, the decision is much harder.
    6) I loved this play! I didn't know much about the Salem Witch Trials before this play. The play gave me a better understanding of what really happened. One of the best parts is at the very end when they are about to be hanged and they start to say the Lord's Prayer. Some of the bads parts were when the girls were in the court room and they would burst out into hysterics. Their hysterics were hard for me to believe. I would rate the play with five stars. This play made me so angry and some points and so sad at others. Any play that can do that is a great play.

  20. 1.He was trying to portray how the witch trials were back then, and how crazy and brutal the whole situation was. He showed how at first when the hangings started, the people that were getting hanged were poor beggers. But when more and more people were getting hanged the people of salem realized that they had made a mistake. When John proctor, martha, and Rebecca were hanged.
    2. I think that Abigail and Giles are static. I think this because throughout the play Abigail held up her act, saying that she was seeing witches, and she would not admit to faking. Giles is static because throughout the play he stood for what was right, all the way to the point to his death he still would not give in. Reverand Hale in my opinon is capable of growth because at the beginning he was accusing people left and right then at the end he realized his mistakes and realized that there really were no witches in salem. I also think that the judge is capable of change I think that he will be more carful the next time he accuses someone of being a witch.
    3. I can identify with the judge the most, sometimes it can be hard to make the right decisons and it all lays on his shoulders. If he wrongly accuses someone it is his fault and if he lets a guilty person go it is his fault and I can relate to that and the pressure to do the right thing.
4.I think that the fact that most of the play is historically true that grabs peoples attention. Also the fact that the play has a good plot would make everyone want to watch the play. This also might be so popular because it showed people what it would be like to live in a puritan society.
5.JOHN: I would ask John why he took his life when he could of lived happily with his wife and kids. I want to know this because I though is was a bad idea to die in the end, I think that the people of Salem would not call him a coward if he has a wife and kids to go home to.
    6. I thought that the play was a fairly accurate interpretation of what the salem witch trials were like. Though personally if this movie came out in theaters today I would probably not want to go and see it because it is just not my type of movie. Also I did not like the ending very much I thought that all of the good people dieing was not a good note to end the movie on. Some good parts are when Abigail left the town of Salem, and when the town started to realize that there really where not witches in the town. Some bad parts are when Mary gives in to the girls and admits that she did see the devil, and when John, Martha, and Rebecca get hanged. I rate this play with *** I gave this movie three stars because I thought that the plot was good and all of the historical facts about the salem witch trials were interesting to learn about.

  21. 1. I think Miller was trying to give the message that dying for the truth and what you really believe in is more easy than living with a lie. John Procter decides he'd rather die with a good name as a Godly man who was only accused as a person who associated with the devil, deny it, and keep his families name clean, instead of living with the lie he almost told saying that he did associate with the devil, when everybody knew that was false, and leave his family a bad name as a devil worshipping family.

    2. Static-
Abigail: She will always be a lying little harlett, and will stay that way. Hopefully, in the place she ran away to, she will be accused as a witch, deny it, and get hanged.

The judges: They will always be jerks. They will stay uptight and even if they felt they were too far into it to go back, they will still be unfair, and think the opposite of the saying "innocent until proven guilty."

    Dynamic-
The people of Salem: They now know that they shouldnt have been doing it, that it was all just a dumb misunderstanding fueled by mass hysteria, and that they should be using "innocent until proven guilty."

John Proctor('s legacy): At the end, he changed from wanting to live a lie to wanting to die for what he believed in.

Rev. Hale: He came into town at the begginning to try to put a stop to all the witch accusations, but in the end, he knew that it had gotten out of control and that people were accusing others to save themselves.

    3. I identify with John Proctor, because I have made mistakes in the past that I regret. He decided to stop living in regret when his wife was accused of being a witch and tried to defend her. Then in the end after he tried living the lie by saying he was associating with the devil, when he hadnt, he changed his mind, and decided to die for what he truly believed in.

    4. Well, you hear a lot about something happening and causing hysteria among the people, making something that shouldnt have been so huge, horrible. And the storyline is universally popular, because unless you had read it before, you dont know whats gonna happen. People enjoy having someone to dislike, and Abigail is the unversally hated person.

    5. Abigail- What in a right mind made you think that blaming someone else would get you out of trouble?? (sorry, its not very deep, I'd just really like to know.)
Well, even though i know she was pretty much fueled by jealousy, rejection, and revenge, I'd still like to know why she would start accusing people like that. Does she have any morals? I mean, ive lied and played the blame game, but either i come clean, or the truth comes out sooner or later. I can live a lie, and now she will have to live a lie and feel guilty for the rest of her life.

    6. I liked the play. They storyline was pretty good, and the action and dialog was interesting. Some parts of it i liked were the Bible references. I liked to hear people defending that they love God, are Christians, hate the devil, etc. But i didnt like the hanging scene. Most people watch movies for the action, the pictures. i live for the sounds and the feelings of movies, and it was kind of grueling. Seeing the faces of people cheering while some people were dying, and the families and friends who knew the truth but were unable to do anything to stop it in trauma. Just horrible.

  22. 1. The message that Miller was trying to give was to always lesson to wat people got to say and always look for wats true, and wats lies.

    2. Well abigail nd the girls never change in the play, because all she did during the hole play was lie more. Then, john always tryed to change everything for eveeyone to noe that he was tellin the truth and that he didnt want to lie just to survive from lies that the girls made up...

    3. John, because he tryed to save everyone acused of witchcraft.

    4. The misstory and the wonder of why they did this and not told the truth and by stoppin all the lies.

    5. Why did the girls act so unmature? i whant to know this because they could of done better and act smarter.

    6. Onestly I did not like it, because the girls were so annoying.. some good parts were when girls starded runnin to the woods and a bad part was when people were killed for lies. I rate it 2.5 stars because i didnt rilly like it how it was played. I was expecting more of this witchcraft thing.

  23. 1) I think that Miller was trying to tell people that back then that witchery was a huge crime. And that if you accused of commiting it then you’d be hung unless you confess. Which I seem to think that if you confess to a lie it is worse then being accused of witchery. It doesn’t make since how they could get hung for telling the truth but when you lie you get away with it. I think that Miller was also trying to say that the people back then were not all that smart .
    2) I think that John and Elizabeth are static because they don’t change. They are still standing up and saying I am not involved in witchery , and they don’t even care that they will be hung for it. With the exception of john saying that he confesses , he realized what he was doing and so he went back to saying that he is innocent . In my opinion us still dynamic.
    3) Well I didn’t really relate to any of them. Because none of them are anything like me. But if I had to say someone I’d probably say I relate to Elizabeth more because she is honest. She knows that through the hardest times that things may not work out the way she wants but it will work out for the best. And she says that it’s not her choice on what they do it’s the persons choice, which is how I feel about many things I don’t like for people to think that it is up to other people to do wat you want it’s all up to you.
    4) I think that the play is so universal and popular is because it’s a very good way to show how people really act. And that it might not be the best thing to do but it shows how easy it is to get away with a lot of stuff. It also shows how even though you really love some one there is always forgivance and that if you really love them then you can let them do what is right even if that means their death.
    5) Abigail, how did you even come up with half the stuff that you said. How could you get so many killed and laugh and smile as they are being killed or how you could even wish death on someone just for your own jelousy. I guess the over all question is where did this idea come from. I would like to know why she lied and where she came up with it. I think that it is bad but very interesting how someone could have such a big imagination.
    6) I loved the play I wasn’t to sure about it at first but towards the middle and the end it turned out very good and interesting. I think that the bad parts were the girls all acting the same as people were confused. All the bad parts were the sad and boring parts. And the good parts were when people where trying to help other people and stuff like that all the good parts were the happy parts or the decent ones. I give the play 4 stars because it wasn’t perfect it did get boring at some points but I still really enjoyed it.

  24. 1.I think that millers messege about trying to give the witch trials was that they were not worth doing because people were accused and died for it.
2.the charaters that I think were static were the girls accusing the innocent people because they never admitted they were lying. The characters that were dynamic were the people getting accused of witchcraft.
3.The character that I identify with the most is john proctor because he is trusted and he is a religous man but not like the others he also is respected by most people this is how I identify with john proctor.
4.i think this play is universally popular because it really happened and it shows how stupid people use to be.
5.Judge: judge why do you convicted the people that are accused? How do you know that the girls arent lying to the court. I wantto know this because the convictions arent fair to the innocent people.
6.i really liked this play because it was funny how people belived everything.
